Three pieces of advice that allow me to cope with anything life throws at me

I have been blessed to have some very wise people in my life. Their advice has helped me cope with some tough times: the hassle of moving cross county; losing a job; the death of a spouse; and most recently, being diagnosed with Lupus.

“Don’t pay for trouble that hasn’t been delivered yet.”

What did my grandma mean when she said that?

When you worry about a problem, you pay for it with stress. When we worry about things before they happen, we are wasting time. It is also a tremendous source of needless stress. Stress can take a devastating toll on your body.

I would love to tell you my grandmother’s folksy wisdom stopped me from worrying as a teenager, but life is not so simple.

It would be years later before I discovered the approach the has allowed me to live a relatively worry free life. I am not saying that my life has been without stress, just that I have been able to cope with it better than most people.

THE BULLSEYE METHOD

I first heard of the Bullseye Method over 30 years ago, from a speaker at a event I was attending for work.
